The Book that made you fall in love with reading

The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

I have three copies if this book.

In primary school we all had to pick a book to read and everyone picked skinny books with big letters. I picked up the one with fauns and magical creature all over the cover even though I remember thinking it was too big and would take too long to read.

And I hardly put it down until I´d finished it.

Then I read the Magician´s Nephew and he Boy and His Horse and loved them just as much.

Bonus: the BBC version of this book also enchanted me. My parents got so sick of me watching it. The modern film version was pretty great too.

(I can´t find the cover my first copy had).

Least Favorite Book

There are other books that were worse but this was one I actually had the courtesy to finish.

The main character. I just hate her. I hate that she´s running round in hot pants and knee high boots. I hate that she´s sort of painted as this “pure” ditzy virgin that oozes pornstar sexual appeal. Kind of like a dark baby spice.  She runs into danger and pouts like a little kid and…    I just really hated her and the way she was written.

The other charcters didn´t impress me much either. *shrug*

Your favourite book.

The Latchkey Children by André Launay

This book is so… I read it when I was 10 and I still reread it. It was way before my time the first time I read it and I didn´t fully understand it but there was just something about it that stuck.

Zuke is still  one of my favourite characters ever. The most manipulative, smart, vindictive, powerful little 12 year old bitch I´ve ever had the pleasure to meet by book.

This book just completely opened my eyes to the possibility that being small and quiete (which I was when I read this) was actually something I could exploit.

It´s fair to say this book corrupted me.

“Gabriel pulled her over his body to lie on the bed beside him. His kisses pressed her down into the oblivion of the mattress as her hands explored his chest, his shoulders, his face.

“I want to lay my kill at your feet,” he said, more growl than words, and held her tight by her hair as he marked her neck with his teeth.

She writhed against him. She wanted to bite him, she wanted to rip the flesh from his back, but most terrible of all, she didn’t want him to stop. Her back arched, her body shattered, she howled.”
